Reminder: NO SCHOOL Friday April 27TH. Enjoy!
· Our theme for this week is Mother’s Day! Our new word wall word is
“of” We now know the following words: I, like, see, a, is, the, can, my, and,
have, go, to, has, am, look, are, saw, went, with, up, they, do, but, said, will,
saw, were, would, was and of. Please review these at home. The end goal is
for every student to be able to read and write these words correctly. It’s
NOT easy and takes LOTS of practice EVERYDAY! Thank you for your
support! It really makes a huge difference in your child’s performance.

Parent Volunteers: If you normally volunteer during center time (9:00-10:00
for AM K and 12:00-1:00 for PM K) we will really be counting on you the
next two weeks. We will be doing assessments on the new incoming
kindergarteners, so we will be alone during center time. If we do not have
volunteers, that makes guided reading groups more difficult to pull. We will
appreciate you even more than normal for coming to help!

- Our next field trip is Thursday, May 3rd. We are ALL going to the
- Loma Vista Farm in Vallejo together! ALL Kindergarteners will come to
- school from 8:15 AM - 11:35AM. Permission slips will be sent home
- . Please make sure that you fill out BOTH SIDES! If you do volunteer
- to drive your own child, or are approved and volunteer to drive other
- children, please be sure to let us know in advance if you change your
- mind so that we can plan accordingly. If we can avoid last minute
- scrambling it makes the field trip day run smoothly. Thank you!
· Writing—By the end of Kindergarten, the goal is for your child to be
writing THREE sentences that all go together, and NOT a list. We are
working on this just about every day in Kindergarten to help your child
be most prepared for the first grade. We highly encourage you to
practice with your child at home as well! The more they practice, the
easier it will be!

For the month of April, we will be writing about how things feel when you
touch them. Please have your child practice writing THREE sentences
about how something feels when they touch it. Our goal is to have the kids
choose one topic and elaborate on it, and really describe the experience.
“I love to hug my grandma. She is warm and soft. Her skin is wrinkly.
When I touch her hair it feels silky and light.” (in Kindergarten writing of
course) We are encouraging LOTS of writing that all goes together!

For both events, if no one is available to come to school that day, the kids
just share their moms or dads with the other students. It ends up being a
great time no matter what!!!
