Kindergarten Newsletter April 10th – 13th

Here’s what’s coming up for the new week…

·        Our theme for this week is Farms!  Our new word wall word is “was.”  We now know the following words:  I, like, see, a, is, the, can, my, and, have, go, to, has, am, look, are, saw, went, with, up, they, do, but, said, will, saw, were and was.  Please review these at home.  Students are expected to be able to read and write these words correctly.  It’s not easy and takes lots of practice.
·        Mr. Mark DAY!  Our Student Council has announced our next school spirit day.  This Thursday April 13th, will be Mr. Mark Day.  Please show your school spirit and appreciation for our custodian, Mr. Mark and dress like him.  Wear blue jeans, a white shirt or any T-shirt and a baseball hat.  The A’s are Mr. Mark’s favorite team.  If you have A’s gear, wear it!
·        Donations Needed:  Glue Sticks are needed in Kindergarten and donations will be greatly appreciated.  We use them daily and have used them all up.  If you would like to donate glue sticks, please send them in with your child at anytime.  The kids would also love sidewalk chalk.  Your donations are appreciated.  THANK YOU!
·       Spring Picture day is Wednesday April 12th!  You do NOT have to preorder anything.  Just send your child to school ready to take a picture, and when the photos come back, you will have the opportunity to purchase what you like!
·        Writing—For the month of April, we will be writing about how things feel when you touch them.  Please have your child write at least THREE sentences about how something feels when they touch it.  Our goal is to have the kids choose one topic and elaborate on it, and really describing the experience.  “I love to pet my dog.  He is warm and soft.  His fur is silky and smooth.  When I touch his whiskers they feel stiff.  He doesn’t like it when I touch his whiskers.”  (in Kindergarten writing of course)  We are encouraging LOTS of writing that all goes together!

Reminder:  NO SCHOOL FRIDAY APRIL 14TH OR MONDAY APRIL 17TH.  Enjoy the 4 day weekend!!!
·        Reading Eggs!!!  Please continue to log onto Reading Eggs and use this program to help reinforce our standards.
