Kindergarten Newsletter for May 16th-20th

THANK YOU for making Teacher Appreciation Week so wonderful!!! All of the handmade cards, pictures, gifts, and flowers are lovely. We are truly blessed to have all of you.

Here’s what’s coming up for the next week…

·        Our theme for this week is Father’s Day.

·        Review all word wall/high frequency words. We now know the following words:  I, like, see, a, is, the, can, my, and, have, go, to, has, am, look, are, saw, went, with, up, they, do, but, said, will, come, was, would, there, & of.

·        Mundy Jog-a-thon is next Friday, May 20th. Please be sure to turn in your donation envelopes by May 18th. Everyone is welcome to come out and cheer for the kids while they run. AM Kindergarteners will run at 8:15a.m and PM Kindergarteners will run at 12:05p.m. Please make sure your child has on comfy clothes and running shoes.

·        Last week was our final library check out for the year.  ALL library books are due back by Friday, May 20th.

·        Sharing- Next week’s letter is “Z”.

·        Calling all Dads…  PLEASE come to our FATHER’S DAY Celebration in Kindergarten Tuesday, May 31stAM Kinder will have their session from 8:30-9:15 and PM Kinder will celebrate with their dads from 11:45-12:30.  We understand that this is may be inconvenient for most of you.  If you are able to come in, please be prepared to be celebrated by more than just your own child as many of the kids will not have their own dads here to play with. We will be making kites, paper airplanes, building with blocks, playing with Play-Doh, cars, drawing… All the fun things daddies usually like to do with their kids.  Sorry dads, no massages and nail painting at this event.

·        Writing—During our last month of Kindergarten, we want everyone to think about all of the previous writing jobs we’ve had and try to incorporate DIFFERENT things to write about!  Our job in May is to use number words in our writing.  Our goal is to have the kids choose one topic and elaborate on it, really describing it.
