Kindergarten Newsletter May 31st – June 3rd

Here’s what’s coming up for this final, crazy busy and short week…
  • Monday May 30th NO SCHOOL  Memorial Day Holiday.

  • NO homework or sharing this week.
·        Father’s Day in Kindergarten will be on Tuesday May 31 !  We invite all dads and/or grandpas to come in and share an hour with your child in Kindergarten!  We will start our activities at the beginning of your child’s day, so please plan to bring your child to school that day and stay for about an hour!  Thank you!!!!
·        Library books are past due , so if you still have a library book at home, please return it tomorrow!!!
Hawaiian Day---This will be on Wednesday, June 1 st.  Your children will be performing a few songs that we have learned.  We will be performing on the stone steps next to our library.  Please plan to be here for the first 20 minutes or so for their songs.  The remainder of the day will be Hawaiian Day in Kindergarten and we encourage you to stay and help out if you’d like!  Please have your child dress in their Hawaiian/tropical/colorful BEST!!!!
·        June 2nd is the last regular school day.   We will be sharing our class slideshows at the very beginning of your child’s day.  Please plan to stay for the first 30 minutes to watch it with your classmates!  It’s a very sweet show!
  • June 3rd is our last day!  Please be on the look out for a sign up to volunteer to bring in supplies for our last day party!  This is a minimum day and all Kindergartners come to school 8:15-11:35.
·        Reading Eggs!!!  Once your child enters the First Grade, you will no longer have this program.  Please continue to log onto Reading Eggs and use it to help reinforce our standards.
·        Typing FUN!  Dance Mat Typing is a very child friendly, FREE, colorful, FUN typing tutor program available online that we have used. Here is the link to cut & paste…  http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/typing/levels/level1.shtml

Kindergarten Newsletter: May 23rd-27th


Here is what’s coming up for next week…….

·        Our theme for next week is Superheroes!

·        Superhero Day in Kindergarten is on Thursday, May 26th. Join the fun and dress-up as your favorite superhero (please, no weapons). There are lots of great superhero and easy cape ideas on Pinterest.
       
·        Sharing next week is Mystery/Free Choice. Please have your child write three clues about his/her mystery share.

·        Please keep reviewing all 50 high frequency words!

·        On Monday, May 23rd Explore It!  from Davis will be coming to share a hands-on activity about Simple Machines with our students. Please ask them about it when they get home!


  • Safety Day is on Wednesday, May 25th at school from 9:00-11:00a.m 

  • NO  SCHOOL on FRIDAY, May 27th and Monday, May 30thEnjoy your long weekend making memories!!!!

·        Father’s Day in Kindergarten will be on Tuesday, May 31st!!! We invite all dads and/or grandpas to come in and share approximately an hour with your child in Kindergarten!  We will start our activities at the beginning of your child’s day, so please plan to bring your child to school that day and stay for about an hour!  Father’s Day start times are:  8:30-9:15a.m for AM Kinder and  11:45-12:30 for PM Kinder.  Hope to see you there!!!

·        Library books are now past due, so if you still have a library book at home, please return it ASAP!!! If your child lost a book, you will receive a bill for the replacement cost.

·        Assessments, assessments, assessments!!!  We have been doing so many assessments in Kindergarten in the last several weeks, so you have not received any reading books!  When these weeks happen, please take it upon yourself to read with your child every night!!!  Thank you!

·        Please watch out for a Signup Genius to volunteer to bring in something for our Last Day of School party on June 3rd and our Hawaiian Day on June 1st as well! Thank you!!!!

·        Speaking of Hawaiian Day on Wednesday, June 1st, your children will be performing a few songs that they learned.  We will perform first thing Wednesday morning. Kindergarten Newsletter for May 16th-20th


THANK YOU for making Teacher Appreciation Week so wonderful!!! All of the handmade cards, pictures, gifts, and flowers are lovely. We are truly blessed to have all of you.

Here’s what’s coming up for the next week…    

·        Our theme for this week is Father’s Day.

·        Review all word wall/high frequency words. We now know the following words:  I, like, see, a, is, the, can, my, and, have, go, to, has, am, look, are, saw, went, with, up, they, do, but, said, will, come, was, would, there, & of.

·        Mundy Jog-a-thon is next Friday, May 20th. Please be sure to turn in your donation envelopes by May 18th. Everyone is welcome to come out and cheer for the kids while they run. AM Kindergarteners will run at 8:15a.m and PM Kindergarteners will run at 12:05p.m. Please make sure your child has on comfy clothes and running shoes.

·        Last week was our final library check out for the year.  ALL library books are due back by Friday, May 20th.

·        Sharing- Next week’s letter is “Z”.

·        Calling all Dads…  PLEASE come to our FATHER’S DAY Celebration in Kindergarten Tuesday, May 31stAM Kinder will have their session from 8:30-9:15 and PM Kinder will celebrate with their dads from 11:45-12:30.  We understand that this is may be inconvenient for most of you.  If you are able to come in, please be prepared to be celebrated by more than just your own child as many of the kids will not have their own dads here to play with. We will be making kites, paper airplanes, building with blocks, playing with Play-Doh, cars, drawing… All the fun things daddies usually like to do with their kids.  Sorry dads, no massages and nail painting at this event. 

·        Writing—During our last month of Kindergarten, we want everyone to think about all of the previous writing jobs we’ve had and try to incorporate DIFFERENT things to write about!  Our job in May is to use number words in our writing.  Our goal is to have the kids choose one topic and elaborate on it, really describing it. 

·        Important dates to remember—There are many upcoming dates to remember.  May is JAM- PACKED, full of activities and dates to remember…

·        Friday, May 20th: Jog-a-thon

·        Tuesday, May 24th: Field Day

·        Wednesday, May 25th: Safety Day

·        Friday, May 27th AND Monday, May 30th: NO SCHOOL  

·        Tuesday, May 31st: Father’s Day in Kindergarten and Perfect Attendance & Honor Roll Assembly

·        Wednesday, June 1st: Hawaiian Day in Kindergarten

  • Thursday, June 2nd: Kindergarten Slideshows at the beginning of class and 5th Grade Promotion

  • Friday, June 3rd: Last Day of School/Minimum Day

Kindergarten Newsletter for May 9th-13th


It was wonderful watching moms, grandmas, and loved ones getting pampered by our kinder kids at Mother’s Day Spa. Thank you for coming and celebrating with us!!!  

Here’s what’s coming up for next week…    

·        Our theme for next week is Time and Eric Carle.

·        Next week’s Sharing is letter “Y.

·        Our new word wall word is “of.”  We now know the following words:  I, like, see, a, is, the, can, my, and, have, go, to, has, am, look, are, saw, went, with, up, they, do, but, said, will, come, was, would, there, & of.

·        Next week will be our final library check out for the year.  All library books will be due back Friday, May 20th.

·        Green Proof of Residence Form went home last week. Please complete the form, attach 2 proofs of residence, and return it to school as soon as possible.

·        Jog-a-Thon donations are due by Wednesday, May 18th. Thank you in advance for supporting our school and it’s many wonderful programs. Additionally, the deadline to order Jog-a-thon t-shirts has been extended.
