Kindergarten Newsletter December 7-11, 2015

Kindergarten Newsletter

Here’s what’s coming up for this week…

·        Our theme for this week is Christmas & the Grinch, and our new word wall word is “we”.   We know the following High Frequency Words: I, a, like, the, see, is, can, my, and, have, go, to, has, you, feel & we.  Please encourage your child to use these words in their writing every day!

Grinch Day!!!  We will be celebrating all things Grinch on Tuesday, December 8th!  Feel free to dress like the Grinch, put your hair up Cindy Lou Who style, or just wear green!  We will be doing fun Grinch projects and centers that day!

·        We have sent home information regarding Kids’ Korner, the gift shop set up at school for students to purchase little gifts for their family members.  The parent volunteers will be able to help your child while there in the gift shop, but they must be accompanied by an adult, in order to visit.

·        Sharing- Next week’s share letter is “C”. Please make sure your child brings his/her share on his or her assigned day with 3 written clues. Students should be stretching out their sounds and writing their own clues, so they can read it in front of the class.

·        Mundy Holiday Fair— Please come out and participate in the raffles and silent auction this Saturday, December 5th from 10:00-2:00p.m. Kindergarteners who come can sing on stage at 11:00a.m.  If you have a Santa hat, please have your child wear it.  Santa will be there!

·        Toys for Tots—We are in need of MORE TOYS!!!  If you are able, please consider donating a new, unopened toy to a child in need. The last day to donate a toy is Friday, December 11th

·        Fieldtrip- Kindergarteners will be visiting senior citizens at Paradise Valley Estates on Tuesday, December 15th. Please make sure you turned in your child’s permission slip and let your child’s teacher know if you will be driving a group/chaperoning or driving only your own child. Students need to bring a booster seat and a holiday hat (Santa hat, antlers) labeled with their name.

ALL AM and PM KINDERGARTENERS will attend school from 8:15-11:35a.m on that day. Students MUST go to their class first for attendance and fieldtrip info or they will be marked absent.

·        Our last Friday before break, Dec. 18th is Pajama Day!  Please come to school in your cozy jammies or comfiest clothes (no slippers).

·        Six Flags Read to Succeed reading logs—Your child can earn a free admission ticket to Six Flags for logging six hours of reading.  You should have received a reading log.  Completed reading logs are due to your child’s teacher by February 12th

·        With this cold and rainy weather, please make sure that your child’s coat is clearly LABELED!!!!

·        Holidays Around the World—We have been talking about our family’s special Holiday traditions this month.  If you would like to come in to share your family’s special traditions, please let us know.

Thank you again for all that you do at home to support your child’s learning.  We appreciate all that you do!  Please feel free to email with any concerns or questions!  Thank you!!
