Kindergarten Newsletter November 16-20

Because of our WACKY days NEXT week, we will not be doing regular centers and will not need parent volunteers.  We would like help however, with FOLDERS in the morning, if you’re willing to stick around for a moment!

Here’s what’s coming up for next week…

·        Every day next week is a minimum day for the WHOLE school in order to accommodate parent conferences.  *ALL Kinder kids come to school together from 8:15-11:35am all week long. Dismissal every day will be just like Wednesdays. It will be crazy….please stay in your car if you are in the yellow loading zone. If you need to get out of your car, you need to park in the parking lot or on a neighboring street and walk.

·        We look forward to meeting you all next week for your student/teacher conference.  Your child IS encouraged to attend their student-led conference.  This is a great way to involve your child in his/her own education.

·        PLEASE make sure that you are signed up for a parent conference time through sign-up genius.  This is our ONLY sign up, so please make sure you are on it! Please be on time, conferences are only 15 minutes.

·        Toys for Tots will start on November 30-December 11 (right after we return from Thanksgiving Break).  Student Council will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for kids of all ages.  These toys will be donated to families in need in the Fairfield community.

·        “A can a kid that’s all we ask.” Please donate canned or boxed food towards our food drive from November 4-18. It will be used to help families and kids in our community (David Weir Elementary).

·        Please help your child be successful in school by attending regularly and on time. Attendance in Kindergarten is 97.77% Let’s make it 100%.

·        Holiday Tree Donations—Thank you for all of your classroom donations!  We hope to raise lots of money for our kiddos at the Holiday Fair on Saturday, December 5th from 10am-2pm.  Kindergarteners are welcome to come and sing at 11:00a.m. Santa will be there!

·        Fieldtrip- Kindergarteners will be singing holiday songs to the elderly residents of Paradise Valley Estates Retirement Home on Tuesday, December 15. A green permission slip was sent home in folders at the beginning of the week. Please complete, sign, and return the permission slip by November 20th.
We will need parent drivers on that day. Please let your child’s teacher know if you can help drive/chaperone. ALL students must go to their classroom first or they will be marked absent. Teachers will have a sign-out sheet for those parents who wish to drive only their own child.
Students are encouraged to wear a Santa hat on that day. Dollar Tree has them for a buck. Please write your child’s name in the inside of his/her hat.

·        Our theme next week is Thanksgiving, and our new word wall word is “am.”   We know the following High Frequency Words: I, a, like, the, see, is, can, my, and, have, go, to, has, you & am.  Please encourage your child to use these words in their writing every day!

·        SHARING next week…bring in something that starts with the letter E (like in elephant or egg, not eel).  Please have your child stretch out their sounds of all the words in their 3 written clues.  Please do NOT tell them how to spell the words, as they cannot read them.  THANK YOU!

Thank you again for all that you do at home to support your child’s learning.  We appreciate all that you do!  Please feel free to email with any concerns or questions!  Thank you!!
