Kinder news April 7-10th 2015

Kindergarten Newsletter
April 7th  - April 10th

Welcome back from break!  We hope you all enjoyed a restful and sunshiney week!!
Here’s what’s coming up for the new week…

·        Tomorrow is our field trip to the Loma Vista Farm in Vallejo.  YAY!  If have not been notified that you are a bus-riding parent chaperone, but would still like to join us for the field trip, please feel free to meet us there.  We will be leaving promptly at 8:30AM, so don’t be late for school!!

·        Please send your child to school with a PAPER BAG snack and water bottle that can be recycled. We do NOT want to keep track of fancy water bottles or Tupperware that need to come back to school!  Please pack accordingly.  NO back packs are necessary!

·        Monday, April 13th, is Spring Picture day!  You do NOT have to preorder anything.  Just send your child to school ready to take a picture, and when the photos come back, you will have the opportunity to purchase what you like!

·        Please help your child to bring back library books BEFORE we go to the library on Wed.  It makes checking out new ones much easier!  THANK YOU!

·        Our theme for this week is Farms!!!  Our new word wall word is “was.”  We now know the following words:  I, like, see, a, is, the, can, my, and, have, go, to, has, am, look, are, saw, went, with, up, they, do, but, said, come, will, you & was.

·        Writing—For the month of April, we will be writing about how things feel when you touch them.  Please have your child write at least two sentences about how something feels when they touch it.  Our goal now is to have the kids choose one topic and elaborate on it, and really describing the experience.  “I love to pet my dog.  He is warm and soft.  His fur is silky and smooth.  When I touch his whiskers they feel stiff.  He doesn’t like it when I touch his whiskers.”  (in Kindergarten writing of course)  We are encouraging LOTS of writing that all goes together!

·        Reading Eggs!!!  Please continue to log onto Reading Eggs and use this program to help reinforce our standards from home.  We are not requiring it as homework, but we would still like to encourage you to use it.  It’s a great program!

·        REMINDER Please be sure that your child returns their plastic Ziploc book bag in their folder everyday.  Thank you!!

Thank you again for all that you do at home to support your child’s learning.  We appreciate all that you do!  Please feel free to email with any concerns or questions!  Thank you!!
