Here’s what’s coming up for next week…
       ·    Next Monday, the 15th is a holiday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. There will be NO SCHOOL that day. Enjoy the three day weekend!
      ·   Dairy Cow Assembly- We are fortunate to have this special assembly on Monday, January 29th. It only visits every several years, so in order to accommodate all of the kindergarten classes, ALL KINDERGARTENERS (AM and PM classes) will attend school from 8:15-11:35a.m on Monday, January 29th. Please make arrangements to drop-off and pick-up your child on time.
         ·    Guided Reading Little BooksJust a friendly reminder that we won’t always send a new book home each day.  Sometimes we are doing assessments, and we can’t get to reading groups each day.  But when we DO send books home, thank you for returning them every day!
·   Read to Succeed- Please remember that your child’s completed and signed Read to Succeed reading log is due by February 23rd.  Students who participate will earn a one day admission ticket to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom.
·   Read to a Dog/PAWS- The Solano County Library hosts this program at several of its’ locations (days and times vary). The Cordelia location offers this program on Tuesdays from 3-4pm and Saturdays 10:30-11:30am. This is a free and fun opportunity for your child to read. Dogs love stories too!
·   With this cold and rainy weather, please make sure that your child’s coats, hats, gloves, scarves are LABELED!!!! Anything they could possibly take off during the school day should be clearly labeled.
· Our theme for next week is Martin Luther King Jr. Our new word wall words are “saw” and “no.”  We know the following High Frequency Words: I, a, am, like, the, see, is, can, my, and, have, go, to, has, you, feel, we, look, are, & said. Please encourage your child to use these words in their writing every day!  Writing 2 complete sentences on one topic, EVERY DAY will have a powerful impact on your child's reading and writing ability. We encourage your child to remember 5 things when they write.
1. Start with a capital
2. Finger Spaces between words
3. Word Wall Words are spelled correctly
4. Monthly Job (words that describe how people look)
Thank you!!!
Go Noodle is a fun, free program we have been using in our classrooms and many students want to use it at home.  It’s like indoor PE.  Just go to Gonoodle.com and click on “channels.”  We have done a lot of songs from MooseTube, Zumba, Maxarena .  There are lots of other areas to explore as well.  Don’t forget about Starfall.com for letter name and sound practice. The kids really love it!
